Weekly Message 7/29/2010
Wow…I really missed it Saturday night.
I heard that the crowd was huge and the place was hopping. Mike Williford
Of Doraville, GA was in our DJ Booth. He
graciously agreed to fill in for us when our scheduled DJ canceled at the
last minute, and apparently a huge crowd of members and visitors came to support
him. Word has it they weren’t disappointed.
That made for a very happy
If you weren’t there (like me) you are
probably wondering what looks different. Well, it seems Fred (owner of Nemoe’s)
reversed the room, putting the tables where the dance floor usually is
and visa versa. I don’t know why! Also, it appears there were quite a few
visitors, but I wasn’t there, so I apologize that I don’t have their
names. Many thanks to Charles
Purcell for taking pictures in my absence.

Karen Williford
expresses her deepest appreciation for those ShagAtlanta members who took the time to come
over to the Sunrise Assisted Living facility near Roswell to demonstrate the shag to some of
our elderly citizens who live there. She said they were still talking
about it on Monday and a
comment was made that it was best entertainment presentation they had ever had there, and
when were they coming back. Karen would like to have another shag demonstration
there perhaps during the Holiday Season later this year.
were out introducing Shag and promoting ShagAtlanta by
giving a Shag Exhibition and a beginning Shag workshop
to folks out at Lake Lanier, at an event called “Legends of the Beach Band.”
Then, on Sunday night a group of our members attended a dance
at the Knights of Columbus On Buford Hwy. This
group, known as the Solo’s, wanted to see what shag was all about.
My husband Mark and I were there, along with Charles and Linda
Purcell,
Charlie and Linda
Reese, Debbie and Bob Tweedell, Barry Marshall and Marsha Baines, Jim Wimberly
and Pam Swann, Charlie
Lyons and June Kelleher, and Bob and Joan Davis.
We all danced several songs and then Charlie
and Linda Reese wowed them with an exhibition, where they pulled out all the
stops!
